Riddled Totem Storage Cabinet by Horm

Architect Steven Holl designed the Riddled Totem as a tall storage cabinet made up of five distinct compartments. Each walnut compartment takes a different angular form. Gray aluminum panels connect them, leaving open spaces between the compartments so the outline changes as you move around the cabinet.

Horm makes the walnut sections from its patented Origami Wood, a 2.2 mm composite of Canaletto walnut veneer and fabric. Laser-cut incisions allow the material to fold along the corners, while perforations across the faces cast patterned shadows as light passes through. Each compartment has its own door with a magnetic closure.
