Harry Bertoia Diamond Wire Armchair

Harry Bertoia Diamond Wire Armchair

The Bertoia Wire Chairs are surprisingly strong and comfortable, while maintaining a magnificent appearance. Bertoia once said of his famous wire chairs, "If you look at these chairs, they are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes right through them." The wire chair truly is a masterpiece. Harry Bertoia and his designs have made him one of Udine's great legends.

Born in Udine, Italy in 1915, Harry Bertoia started drawing at the age of 13. Just two years later Harry Bertoia emigrated to Canada and then the United States in 1930. During his diverse design career, Harry Bertoia designs spanned from sculptures to jewelry to furniture. During the 1940s, Harry Bertoia worked closely with Charles Eames on a number of ergonomic projects in order to create more practical forms of modern classic furniture.
