Fl@t Chair 923.81 by Tonon

The Fl@t Chair 923.81 by Tonon is an inventive upholstered swivel chair designed by Martin Ballendat. Its flexible seat panel is cut and padded while flat before being bent into a sculptural shell, reversing the usual sequence of upholstered furniture production. The curved seat appears to hover above its support, creating a particularly light and contemporary outline.

On this version, a black-lacquered die-cast aluminum swivel base gives the chair a more architectural appearance than the wood- or four-leg configurations. Fabric and leather upholstery options make Fl@t suitable for modern meeting rooms, dining areas, and flexible working environments where the chair can turn with the sitter. The original Fl@t concept received a Red Dot Product Design award in 2018, recognizing the ingenuity of its construction and form.
