Cyclone Dining Table

The Noguchi Cyclone Table, designed by Isamu Noguchi in 1953, is a sculptural and dynamic expression of mid-century modern design. Originally created as a companion piece to wire-form seating, the table evolved into a striking standalone work known for its bold visual presence and structural ingenuity.

At its core is a dramatic base made of chrome-plated steel rods, arranged in a swirling, cyclone-like pattern that gives the table its name. These tension-held rods connect a heavy, black cast-iron base to a round tabletop, creating a visual rhythm that suggests motion and lightness while maintaining exceptional stability.

The top,  finished in laminate, is minimal and clean-lined, providing a quiet contrast to the kinetic energy of the base. Together, the components form a harmonious balance between organic curves and industrial materials—hallmarks of Noguchi’s unique design language.
