Carnaby Lounge Chair by Horm

Studio Balutto designed the Carnaby Lounge Chair for Horm with a tall, gently reclined back and an exposed solid ash frame. Horizontal seams divide the upholstered back into padded sections. Viewed from the side, the slim wooden arms trace a continuous line down to the angled front legs.

A molded plywood shell gives the seat and back their shape, while memory foam cushions both. The open space beneath the arms keeps the profile light, especially when the chair is seen from the side. Set Carnaby at an angle beside a reading lamp to show the sweep of the frame, or place a pair across from a sofa to create a conversation area.

The exposed ash gives you two materials to work with when choosing a finish. Oak-stained ash pairs naturally with a pale woven fabric for a softer look. A black or mocha frame draws a sharper outline around light upholstery, while walnut-stained ash brings out the warm tones in brown leather.
