C 5501 Bentwood Armchair with Upholstered Seat and Back by GTV

The C 5501 Bentwood Armchair with Upholstered Seat and Back by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna offers a richly finished interpretation of the collection's sculptural design. Introduced in 2026, this version replaces the woven cane surfaces with an upholstered seat and rounded backrest, creating a softer look while retaining the chair's unmistakable bentwood character. The sweeping beechwood armrests frame the cushioned seating surfaces, and the distinctive three-legged base adds a bold architectural element to an otherwise graceful silhouette. Curves and clean lines work together to create a balanced design that brings visual interest to the room without appearing heavy. Well suited to contemporary dining spaces, executive offices, and refined hospitality interiors, the C 5501 can serve as an expressive accent chair or as part of a coordinated seating arrangement. With natural and stained beechwood or black lacquer finishes, along with fabric and leather upholstery options, the chair offers a versatile combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary styling.
