C 5501 Bentwood Armchair with Cane Seat and Back by GTV

The C 5501 Bentwood Armchair with Cane Seat and Back by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna, introduced in 2026, brings a sculptural new perspective to the tradition of Viennese bentwood furniture. Its distinctive silhouette combines a smoothly curved beechwood frame with a striking three-legged base, giving the chair an architectural presence from every angle. The graceful armrests sweep around the seat to frame an oval-shaped backrest, while woven cane in both the seat and back adds texture, lightness, and a sense of openness. The delicate cane contrasts with the substantial curves of the wood, highlighting the balance between traditional materials and contemporary design. Equally at home around a dining table, in a sophisticated office, or in an elegant hospitality interior, the C 5501 makes a memorable statement without overwhelming its surroundings. Available in natural or stained beechwood and black lacquer, it reflects GTV's expertise in bending wood into expressive, functional forms.
