Carl Aubock
Carl Aubock (1900-1957) was a Austrian designer and painter. After working as an
apprentice as a bronze and chisel worker, he studied at the Academy of
Fine Arts in Vienna. Between 1919-21 Aubock was a student of Johannes
Itten at the Weimar Bauhaus. During his time at the Bauhaus, he created
some several masterpeices of Austrian modernism.
In the early 1940s, Aubock developed a particular style for handcrafted
accessories that, after the war, made him famous internationally. He
reached the pinnacle of his design career at the Triennale di Milano in
1954, where he received four gold medals for his work.
