The No A150 Bentwood Stool design continues to be one of Michael Thonet's most popular bentwood designs. Its elegant curved back and durable seat make it a favorite in cafe, restaurant and residential applications. This particular version is available with a wide variety of seat upholstery options, including a range of fabrics and leathers. The frame may be specified with a range of classic stains or contemporary designers lacquers.
Starting as a modest cabinet maker, Michael Thonet's mass production of bentwood furniture changed the world in the mid-1800s. With such items as the A14 bentwood chair, and Cafe Daum bentwood chairs, this pioneer quickly grew. Over time his sons assumed various roles within his company. One of the most important would be August Thonet, who would go on to design this stool in 1895.
Using traditional steam bending techniques at an original factory, Ton continues to follow in the footsteps of Michael Thonet. It is a rare opportunity to own a bentwood stool created the same way it once was over a century ago.
