Marcel Breuer M44-1 Desk Shelf by Tecta

Marcel Breuer M44-1 Desk Shelf

The Marcel Breuer M44-1 Desk Shelf uses a somewhat similar design to the S44 book shelf Marcel Breuer designed in 1932.  This M44-1 though is more functional due to the expanded size of it adjustable shelves and its swiveling top.  Designed as a part desk, part collaboration area, it uses tubular steel in the frame for with which Marcel Breuer was master craftsman.

Born in 1902 in southwest Hungary, Marcel Breuer grew up in the  progressive and intellectual city of Pecs.  His father was a dental technician that encouraged Marcel to be interested in cultural and artistic endeavors.  At a young age he embraced the arts and decided he would be a painter or sculptor.
