The Michael Thonet Designed B 825 Bentwood Rocking Chair is one of the most ornamental chairs our bentwood collection. With a large bentwood frame and hand-woven natural cane seat and back, the Michael Thonet designed B 825 bentwood rocking chair offers hours of enjoyment.

Michael Thonet's first bentwood rocking chair was created in 1860.  Rocking Chair No. 1 was constructed with laminated beechwood.  Initial success of Michael Thonet's rocking chair was only modest as these types of chairs were far more popular in the United States.  They were considered much more of a novelty by the Europeans.  By 1913 it made up only about 5% of overall production.
