Josef Hoffman Designed A6010 Bentwood Chair

The A6010 Bentwood Chair is 20th century design quite similar to one designed by Josef Hoffmann and Oswald Haerdtl in 1929 for Thonet (and one of our favorites). With its clean circle cut-outs and lacquer finish, it has the modern appearance of an die-cut aluminum or steel chair, yet this chair is constructed with a bentwood frame, seat and back. Sharing design elements with another favorite, the 811, it is perhaps one of the most contemporary of the classic Thonet designs.

Michael Thonet revolutionized the manufacturing of furniture with his manufacturing techniques and simple materials. This bentwood chair was made by hand at one of the original eastern European factories sourced by Michael Thonet. Also offered as an armchair, the B6010.
