The Thonet Rondo ST is one of the most elegant of the Thonet lounge pieces.  Elegance comes from a simple design and skillful manufacturing technique that has lasted the ages.  Over 150 years ago, the young Michael Thonet experimented with several techniques designed to bend wood.  By bending a handful of pieces, he was able to create hundreds of different designs around the bentwood frame.  Lounge chairs, side chairs, rocking chairs, and many other pieces of furniture became popular.  Since its early inception, over 50 million Thonet chairs have been made.  The Rondo design continues to be among the most popular.
