Alison and Peter Smithson designed the Trundling Turk in 1956 for the exhibition "This is Tomorrow". It features large block arms seat and back in an array of colors.
British architects Alison and Peter Smithson are most associated with the New Brutalist style, a style which was inspired by the modernist archictural movement. The Smithsons first became notable with the design of the 1954 Hunstanton School, a school with an exposed brick and steel structure. Their style could be traced to that of Mies van der Rohe, though they used rough finishes and purposeful lack of refinement.
