The René Herbst Highback Cord Chair is just one example of the pioneering use of industrial material that René Herbst was famed for. His development of this Highback Cord Chair was themed by the continuity of form that utilized elastic cords that at that time were used to wrap parcels. It was first released to the public at the Paris Salo d'Automne des Artistes Décorateurs in 1929. René Herbst founded the company Etablissements René Herbst in an effort to produce and sell his projects.
