Description :

This bed was designed by George Nelson in 1952.  This bed was part of a program of the 1950s in which Nelson developed a furniture series with essential lines of Scandinavian inspiration. It went out of production in the early 1960s.

George Nelson was one of the pioneers of the modernist design movement together with such exceptional American designers as Raymond Loewy, Charles Eames, and Eliot Noyes. The output from Nelson's studio included some of the most historic examples of 20th century industrial design, many of the items being still in production today.: such as the "marshmallow" sofa, the "bubble" lamp, and the "sling" sofa. Nelson also made a great contribution to the design of the "storage wall", the shopping centre, multi-media presentation and the "open-plan" office system. The full range of Nelson's works spanning from product and furnishing design, to packaging and graphics, to his lager scale projects such as the "Fairchild" house and the American National Exhibition in Moscow in 1959.
